Overall Satisfaction with Navisworks
We use it for coordination in both design and construction phase. We are using it in our department and manage the coordination process on multiple projects with large project teams. The business case is that it is accepted as standard by the industry so it is easy to get people on board.
- Clash detection.
- Reading multiple file formats
- Handles massive sized models
- File sizes are small which enables easy distribution
- Clash reporting is very limited.
- Tracking solutions and responsibilities almost non-existent
- Not cloud based
- Dated compared to contemporary software
- It helps in coordination on BIM projects. We have had major project coordination saving millions on jobs.
- Helps us win more projects as we can coordinate them
- Used to use the animation tools for site logistics. Now we use game engines.
Revizto - no inherent clash detection but great clash detection reporting and issue tracking
Synchro - 4D scheduling software that is much better than Navisworks in that space.
Navis is the standard so no requrement to force new software on the project teams.
For sensitive projects we can use any web-hosted solutions so it's the only option really.
