Overall Satisfaction with Nokia 7750 Service Router (SR)
We use Nokia 7750 Service Router (SR) as a core switch in our organization. We use MPLS switching mostly in combination with other L3 protocols like OSPF and BGP. It is used and managed by a team and not the whole organization. It helps connect various offices/sites across the country for customers.
Pros
- MPLS switching
- VPRN
- VPLS
Cons
- Buffer capacity
- Load balancing
- MPLS labelling
- QoS
- OSPF
- SAM element manager compatibility
- Reliable switch with high uptime
- Good value compared to competition
- Versatile
- Cisco 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 9000)
We have both Nokia 7750 and Cisco ASR 9000 in our network. The main advantage of the Nokia 7750 is its compatibility with the SAM element manager and users easily can configure using SAM. This feature is not found on ASR9k. Cisco is good for L3 routing especially BGP functionalities and peering.
