It is mainly used to monitor the service performance and support root cause analysis for network performance degradation and outages.,NetScout nGeniusONE can help to deep dive into the packet layer, help to identify the real network and service performance problems in the protocol layer. We have been using NetScout nGeniusONE as the main monitoring solution for the mobile network for many years. I have recently use NetScout nGeniusONE to support problem troubleshooting for a customer issue complaining of slow application connection into our Datacenter services. it was easy to use NetScout nGeniusONE to capture the problematic connection sessions by using various type of filters and export a pcap file for further analysis. I‘ve also use NetScout nGeniusONE to investigate an NBN connection issue which was intermittent and hard to capture, however, by using NetScout nGeniusONE it was easy to go back to the history capture and logs, so we won't miss any important leads.,Some time the NetScout nGeniusONE is a little slow when analyzing/downloading big size network captures, especially when I add more filters that slowness will be more obvious. I hope it can be improved a bit as the data we're analyzing now is more and more massive in size. I don't have other comments on this question, everything looks good except the one I've mentioned.,9,NetScout nGeniusONE helps to reduce the time and effort (people to involve) to react on network outages, speed up the investigation progress, and much more quickly to identify the root cause. Proactive helps the operation team to identify the underline problems and help the business to take actions before the issue starts to impact the customer's business. Help to reduce the incidents and outages. The ability of the break the traffic down and go into the packet analyzer straight from the graphical interface. Saves a lot of time writing filters with just simple clicks.,Possibly the setup. The organization of setting up the sites weren't as easy as I would have liked.,9,Packet tracing has been positive. The ROI comes from being able to narrow the packet down fast to determine the network issue. NetScout nGeniusONE is perfectly suited for an end to end network service monitoring, no matter what type of service it is—IP, mobile, datacentre, or the cloud— it can all be a good place to have NetScout nGeniusONE deployed to assist in the operation.

From implementation it has been used to diagnose and find problems. We have been working sometime to operationalize the system into monitoring solution for all IT organizations within the company. With nG1 we have been able to baseline our applications which provides us the ability to do alerting and reporting to the appropriate group to look further into problems.
  • In this space, we wanted an end-to-end solution provided by one vendor.
  • Local support team and TAC have been instrumental in helping us provide this solution
  • Very responsive to new ideas to improve the product.
  • Better access to resources
  • Pricing in this niche market is very high, hard for the little guy to take advantage of these solutions
One of the primary focus we have is application visibility as data crosses the network. We have found several instances where latency was an issue, unknowingly and was able to take corrective action.

Using this tool as a troubleshooting tool only is missing out on all the addons you get from a solution like this. Don't be tunnel visioned share the tool and get the most out of it.

We currently use NetScout as a way of monitoring multiple links between branch offices within our company. The main purpose has been for packet tracing. We have multiple platforms; Microsoft, Unix, Mainframe which we must ensure traffic is not only flowing correctly but within a reasonable timeframe. NetScout has given us this with a graphical interface that can display traffic statics in a way that is easy to read as well as allowing an engineer to dig into the packets even deeper.

Packet tracing is its main purpose and well suited for. Unfortunately, I am not a mainframe expert but know enough to know the danger. We have, what I call, a version 1 mainframe which requires a separate stack for its TCP/IP access per program, unlike Microsoft and Unix. With the use of NetScout, we were able to determine a routing issue as well as the incorrect stack that the TCP traffic was routing too. Beginning with the graphical interface we were able to narrow the path down between multiple devices and then analyzing the packet trace generated by NetScout.
