Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use the managed DNS solution for most of our core domain names. Only our sysops employees have access to the product. The biggest problem it solves is redundancy in multiple geographic locations.

Pros

  • Low latency
  • Good redundancy
  • Easy to use
  • Geo-based DNS

Cons

  • Better solutions for companies with hundreds of thousands of domains
  • Support for comments in the IP restriction ACLs
  • A better error message when an IP isn't added to ACL upon login
  • We do need an anycast DNS infrastructure hosted internally now.
We use Route 53 and it seems to work just as well once it's setup. I find your product a little easier to use.

Cloudflare works way better for mass domains. We use them as well.
I've never had an issue with managed DNS support. It's always quick and to the point the few times I've used it.
For under 100 domains I feel like this is one of the best solutions out there.
Managed DNS works great if you have a handful of domains. I'd recommend it to most people if it fits their budget. I wouldn't recommend it you're looking for a value solution or if you're hosting mass domains.

Thank you for the feedback, it's extremely helpful. I wanted to address a couple of your points regarding ACL's. First, regarding support for comments in IP ACL's, we can definitely see how this would be a useful feature. Part of our goal is to create better change management features to better allow organizations to share, audit, and approve changes between teams. As such, I've passed your feedback to our product team for review. Secondly, our goal with account access is to be as secure as possible. That's part of why you do not see us return specific error messages upon login in an effort to prevent hackers from obtaining information about your account security which may assist them in an attack. I hope that's helpful however if you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out via userhelp@dyn.com and we'll be happy to assist.
