Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is used in our department to facilitate access to our customers' firewalls and routers using DDNS instead of requiring a static IP from the ISP. It gives us an excellent centralized location for DNS configuration and allows us to quickly and efficiently update, add, or delete locations as necessary.

Pros and Cons

Pros

It is extremely easy to update.

Cons

The search options in the node finder are clunky and cumbersome, requiring an exact match to find a node.

Return on Investment

It has increased our ability to react quickly to customer requests.

Support Rating

I have never interacted with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS support so I have no basis on which to rank it.

Usability

As this is the DNS service I have used for most of my career, I can not really compare it to other options. I will however say that the user interface could be improved. The ease of locating a specific node quickly and making small changes could be better. I don't want to have to click through three or four menus to locate a node because the ISP changed their IP address. I'd like to be able to enter a portion of the node id into the search on the home page and get directly to that node.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is an excellent platform for managing a large number of sites over a large number of zones. Probably less appropriate for a smaller enterprise space.
