Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS to manage all of our domains. We used to use the ISP's DNS services, but switching to Dyn Managed DNS reduces our time for changes/updates from days to minutes.
  • DNS updates can be seen in minutes
  • You get a summary of changes prior to publishing, to allow for proofreading your changes
  • Audit log of changes made
  • Maybe provide better automation for zone transfers
  • Some form of automating the creation of reverse lookup zones for small subnets, including the ability to send name record requests to the remote ISP that owns the full IP block
  • Because changes are seen so rapidly, it allows deployment of new technologies in a more timely manner
Dyn allows us to manage our own DNS, and publishes changes quickly. While Sprint defaults to 3 days for changes, and even expediting changes can take hours or even a full day.
Billing could be better, some of the billing requirements seem to be a bit convoluted.
Dyn's DNS interface is a bit different from BIND, or from Microsoft's DNS, but once you get used to it, you will find that it makes sense and is easy to use.
Dyn Managed DNS is a great fit if you make changes or additions often, or have a lot of records. It isnt needed if you only have a few addresses, and do not make many changes/additions
