Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use Dyn Managed DNS to provide a stable DNS service for our hosting services. We automate many of our daily hosting tasks and Dyn's Managed DNS API made it easy for us to integrate into our current workflow. We also use many of Dyn's traffic controller services to provide high availability to our client and corporate servers.
  • Easy to work with API.
  • Good customer service.
  • Price is reasonable.
  • Reporting is hard to work with due to the number of domains we manage it is very slow and often times doesn't work.
  • Integration was easy to automate
  • We no longer manage our own DNS infrastructure so it is less we have to worry about.
Overall for our use, Oracle Dyn Managed DNS provides the best value compared with other DNS solution we have reviewed. Akami Fast DNS is a good choice for us but we did not like the cost. When it came down to it we looked for the best price and the fastest integration. Dyn was an easy choice.
The support team at Dyn has always been very helpful and have tried to answer our questions to the best of their knowledge. We have never had any issues from support tickets and they are often resolved in a few hours.
I give Oracle Dyn Managed DNS's overall usability an 8/10. If you understand DNS then you should have no problem working with the Dyn DNS interface. It takes very little time to learn how to update and manage DNS for your domains. The DYN API is also easy to work with and they provide SDK's for most programming languages.
Dyn Managed DNS is well suited at providing a high availability DNS solution to your services through the use of traffic controller records. Traffic controller records provide many features including server weighting, server health and failover options. Dyn also provides a great API for easy DNS changes when your infrastructure changes. If you want a simple solution Dyn Managed DNS may be more than you need.
