Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS across our organization to help manage not only our DNS but also the DNS and a few other DNS related services for most of our clients. It's great having a central location for all management, not to mention an interface that is easy for new users as well as advanced options for power users.
  • Central Management
  • GUI works for beginners or power users
  • Ability to easily adjust settings per domain
  • Support was quick to respond the few times I've reached out to them
  • Historical configurations easily accessible
  • I can't really think of anything that stands out as a con.
  • Allows us to provide a valuable service to clients
  • Central Management
  • Simple or Advanced GUI; it's up to the user
We have not evaluated any alternatives recently. Previously we managed DNS at a registrar, and their lack of options made us realize we needed to find something better.
The few times I've had to contact DYN support, they have been quick to respond and provided what I needed to fix my issue. Too often you get replies from support reps who just glance at your email, send you a link to go look at a knowledge base article and hope that fixes your issue. I get a follow up from them once my issues is addressed to ensure I am happy, which is a nice touch.

The interface can be simple for those that are new to managing DNS, or you can switch to the advanced interface. You have the ability to create just about any record you need to from either, though some are better created in basic and others in advanced. Ability to create SRV records using a simple wizard is also available.
Companies that are frequently needing to update DNS and/or have propagation occur quickly are well suited here. The ability to drop TTLs to 30 seconds makes migrations (and reverting) easy. DNS Active Failover is a great alternative for those that need high availability but don't want to sink lots of money into other technologies.
