Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Java SE Subscription

Oracle Java SE Subscription is being used across the entire organization. It allows us to run Java applets and get support for Java on users' laptops.
  • Easy to install
  • Enterprise-ready purchasing
  • Poor value for the money
  • Too pricey for small companies to purchase
  • We've only used the support once or twice to report monitoring bugs in the JVM
  • The times we have used support occurred less than once per year, so the yearly cost wasn't worth it.
I much prefer the .NET runtime since it is free and fully supported, and it offers a more efficient developer environment and ecosystem of libraries.
Support was OK. Not amazing, but pretty typical of most large enterprises.

Do you think Oracle Java SE Subscription delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Oracle Java SE Subscription's feature set?

No

Did Oracle Java SE Subscription live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Oracle Java SE Subscription go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Oracle Java SE Subscription again?

No

It's good for enterprises who don't know much about Java and don't have knowledge on how to support the JVM. I don't see much reason to buy it. There are so many free alternatives, I wouldn't spend my own money on it.
