Overall Satisfaction with Pixlr
Pixlr is used by our organisation as a cheaper and more accessible version of photoshop. We use it to create graphics for our campaigns, as well as posters, report covers and other visual content for our work. Given that we use laptops with limited storage, we appreciate the web-based platform that Pixlr provides.
Pros
- Enables the user to use a range of fonts even in foreign languages
- Is relatively easy to learn
- Is cost-effective
Cons
- The previous version of Pixlr, albeit more basic, was a lot easier to use
- Would be good to have pop up labels explaining what different tools are for
- More videos and resources showing how to do the basics would be helpful
- Foreign language font support
- Magic erase to remove backgrounds quickly from images
- Ability to save layers and return to edit content at a later date
- Pixlr has enabled us to design beautiful graphics in the local Cambodian language
- Canva and Piktochart
Pixlr has additional tools and a wider range of functionality than Piktochart and Canva and other similar tools. This can be a drawback for beginners, however for those staff who have more experience with graphic design it is very helpful in being able to get more creative with different editing options.
