Overall Satisfaction with Progress Sitefinity

Sitefinity is used by multiple users within our organisation. We wanted a simple CMS that can be used by business users responsible for specific content. These users should have simple edit function while designers still would be able to use the full functionality.
  • Sitefinity is simple to use while still full of features.
  • All content including documents/images can be stored in a database instead of the file system.
  • Small design changes on the layout are also easy for content editors.
  • All documentation and training material is online. Sometimes you want your users to start with a book like a dummies book for example.
  • The features vs license is a complex one. You need technical assistance to understand the different versions when exploring to your functional wishes.
  • The page locking can make users a little bit frustrated.
Umbraco cannot store all content in a database like documents and images used in the site. Also, Sitefinity is more user-friendly.
If you want a fully database driven CMS, Sitefinity is one of the few solutions on the Windows platform. However, it's not cheap or free even for the most simple use cases.
