Overall Satisfaction with Prometheus
So we are using Prometheus for monitoring of our own servers. Basically there's just a self-sufficient tool which has its own database. This tends to take care of a lot of stuff out of our minds, since you just setup Prometheus docker on one machine and just deploy agents on the nodes and you are basically set for monitoring everything that happens on that node.
- Inbuilt database.
- Amazing visualization.
- Need to extend its support.
- It's free, but overall positive.
- Just view the dashboard in the morning and you know everything about your system.
If you combine Prometheus with Grafana, what you get is just amazing. it is basically the best ecosystem that I have seen. Grafana just makes those fancy "iron man" kind of dashboards and it just looks so appealing to your eyes. I have implemented Nagios Core earlier for monitoring and I would say I still prefer Prometheus than Nagios since the flexibility that it provides and the ease with which it can be setup.
