Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks for Mac

I help a few of my clients who have decided to use QuickBooks for Mac. We like to make sure that the clients are able to choose the version of QuickBooks that they feel the most comfortable with. I'm the only one in my team who is able to help those who want to use QuickBooks for Mac, and while the 2013 version was a major improvement over the 2012 version, I feel most comfortable with the pc version.
  • It does a great job at fitting in the Apple ecosystem.
  • It looks and feels user friendly for less sophisticated users.
  • It's a great tool for those looking for a simple accounting solution.
  • Everything seems hidden in the menus, making it difficult to find what I'm looking for.
  • It doesn't run as many reports as the pc version, or if it does, it doesn't make it easy.
  • Journal entries give up flexibility for interface.
  • It's hard to say as clients generally buy the licenses
  • However, writing checks is a breeze, which might be what you're looking for
  • It feels much more modern and hip than the pc version, for what it's worth
It's not that I necessarily choose QuickBooks for Mac over the standard QuickBooks for PC, but I want to be flexible and be able to give my client the service that he or she is looking for. That being said, QuickBooks for PC is definitely the superior product that I would recommend to anyone.
I haven't spent that much time with the newer versions of QuickBooks for Mac, but I think I'm seeing it make the much-needed improvements. For example, something as simple as undoing the previous reconciliation was a terrible chore, and I'm glad that feature has been included in the newer versions of QuickBooks for Mac
I think it would be great for a small firm looking for a simple quick and easy way to keep track of checks and do bank recs. Other than that, you really need to get a pc version equipped with much more flexibility and functionality. Moving from PC to Mac is really tricky with this QB.
