Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

We use AAP for our automation of all of our Linux environment and some small pockets of Windows and some applications configurations. We use it for drift management, CIS compliance, provisioning and general help desk tasks by our technicians.

Pros

  • Configuration Drift
  • Server Provisioning
  • Compliance remediation for CIS and NIST benchmarks

Cons

  • Upgrades could be simpler
  • Creating EEs could be better integrated rather than DIY
  • Config as Code could be better
  • It saves our help desk technicians time
  • It allows us to do maintenance in an automated fashion and saves time
  • We have upgraded almost 3000 RHEL7 servers in less than a year with a fully automated process and it has saved us a ton of time.
AAP is fairly straightforward to use as a user.

Do you think Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform again?

Yes

AAP is great at handling repeatable tasks. It can handle complex multi-step workflows as well. We use it to do upgrades from RHEL7 to RHEL8 in a very complex manner and it handles it very well. At least in our environment using it for Windows management isn't an area where we are focused and it seems less geared towards it.
