RHEL is the primary platform for our server needs. It provides a well-documented, well-supported OS with a high level of interoperability. We currently have about 1000 servers running various applications and infrastructure-related functions.
Pros
- Vendor provided "trust-able" documentation.
- Support ecosystem.
- Incorporates mainstream functionality relatively quickly.
Cons
- On the fly "recommended actions" or suggestions.
- RHEL has allowed a team of 3 to manage the infrastructure for 1000 machines with a low overall task load.
