Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

RHEL is the primary platform for our server needs. It provides a well-documented, well-supported OS with a high level of interoperability. We currently have about 1000 servers running various applications and infrastructure-related functions.

Pros

  • Vendor provided "trust-able" documentation.
  • Support ecosystem.
  • Incorporates mainstream functionality relatively quickly.

Cons

  • On the fly "recommended actions" or suggestions.
  • RHEL has allowed a team of 3 to manage the infrastructure for 1000 machines with a low overall task load.
I rarely have issues with RHEL. Installation is easy, maintenance is easy, and troubleshooting is easy. I'm honestly a big fan of RHEL all around.
