Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift

Red Hat OpenShift is used within the Maritime IT and our complete new IT Infrastructure as our CP.

Pros

  • It gives the ability to "plug and play" quiet fast.
  • Its integration with Kubernetes makes it flexible with our IT environment (also with our public cloud initiatives).

Cons

  • It should be a bit more loosely coupled. It makes it less flexible
It has a high impact of the ADL. Our old ADL was completely not cloud-native, while OpenShift, with all its tools, requires cloud-native techniques and has a huge impact on our development teams.
We are still working on this subject. We have public cloud & private cloud. The strategy to combine Red Hat Openshift (which is focused on our private cloud) with public cloud, makes it more of a hybrid strategy. It is part of our long-term goals, but we are not there yet.
