Overall Satisfaction with SAP Ariba

We use SAP Ariba for guided buying to replace a manual / paper-based process which was done largely outside SAP. Ariba is integrated with the existing ECC platform.

Pros

  • Excellent user interface

Cons

  • The integration with ECC6 SCM is extremely complicated
  • User friendly and intuitive interface
  • Integration with existing platform
  • Value for money
  • Purchasing process is simplified and automated
  • SAP Ariba license cost is considerable, ROI is probably negative overall

Integration with current ECC system, and potential future S4 HANA system, was of one the most important factors. Unfortunately this integration (PR/PO and BP synchronization) took many month to work correctly and support from SAP was disappointing.
SAP Ariba offers considerably better and more extensive functionality, although at a much higher price level.

Our organization uses Ariba for guided buying including vendor evaluation and document archiving. The UI is well designed and configuration is relatively easy.
