Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

We use ABAP system from the SAP Business Technology Platform, as a platform for our Int4 Suite Cloud testing product. The business problem we have is making sure that our customers, which are usually companies running large SAP installations, have a clear and easy path for embedding our solutions in their landscape, and that our solution easy integrates with their SAP-oriented ecosystem.

Pros

  • Inherent quick SAP HANA database underlying the ABAP stack
  • Easy setup of connectivity with other SAP BTP tennants
  • Very decent performance

Cons

  • ABAP BTP platform has a pretty slow release cycle for some ABAP classes, that should improve
  • Deployment scenarios are not very clear
  • We improved build time
  • We improved customer enablement experience
  • We speed up the customer onboarding
Well, basically based on the results that we achieved so far. We're very close to release our product as GA. Please read more on Int4 Suite online to see a real life example of app built on the platform.
Normal SAP support experience. As mentioned below, release of new ABAP classess is quite slow and some core XML/XSLT processing options are still pending for us. So we have to drop functionalities or do workarounds. So good, but slow.
I have not seen or used any of the use cases
SAP Business Technology Platform brings a lot of things ready out of the box (security management, data access layers, database) and in a standard easy to spin-off form. The other reason is that we are very proficient in ABAP and SAP technologies and we can connect with SAP and the ecosystem for help - so choosing BTP ABAP was the best way to go.

We have one scenario where the platform is used - and that is the technology platform for our product that helps sap-centric companies test their integration solutions (including SAP Cloud Integration). The platform fits very well, as the customer already on SAP solutions would already have everything in place to ramp up a new service and start using our software. The platform provides robus and well known ABAP environment with a quick database, making a wonderful starting point to migrate our on-prem ABAP add-on to form, build and offer a could version of our application to customers.
