Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

We are SAP partners, and we are using BTP to develop and run applications and integrations for our customers.

Pros

  • Runtime environment with CAP. Speed up development.
  • Identity management services are easy to use and easy to integrate with enterprise identity management.
  • Provides a good variety of services which make easy for companies to create, run and mantain apps.

Cons

  • The almost mandatory use of HANA services to run CAP applications. It would be best to provide extensive support for other databases.
  • The subspace landing page/cockpit is not so user friendly. Provides a lot of information and usually is hard to find where things are.
  • Downtimes should be shorter.
  • Single entry point with Workzone is great to integrate application in an etherogeneus landscapes.
  • The ability to have out of the box support for Mobile Start is a plus.
  • Fast integration with on premise apis.
Usability wise the tool is good. And with the fast enablers now is even easier to set up different configurations.
Well could be better. Sometimes questions take long to answer. For example we had an issue with a customer regarding SAP Mobile start, which was not working when using an external IDM and it took the team 3 weeks to solve the issue. I think that if the product is available for production usage this should be avoid.
I have seen and used at least one use case - Yes we use several use cases with our customers.
