Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

I think SAP Business Technology Platform is a good platform, but it requires more work to become user-friendly and easier to navigate. Technically, when you authenticate a SAP IAS tenant, you can't switch to another tenant and are forced to recreate the services in a new subaccount. Additionally, newer services are not available as entitlements, and you must purchase them first from sap.com to add them as entitlements. This is frustrating because it's unclear how to obtain these services.

Pros

  • Identify prerequisites when running Boosters
  • Cloud Integration Automation service was a lifesaver to implement Work Zone Standard
  • Group access within Role Collections is great to avoid manual role assessments

Cons

  • The Automation Integration service has some outdated workflows
  • New services should be available as entitlements as soon as they are released for a particular region without having to buy them from SAP for zero dollars
  • Any subaccount should be able to change the IAS tenant. Currently, if you set it up for a particular IAS, you cannot change to another tenant and are required to recreate the services in a new subaccount.
  • 50% reduction in the time an idea takes to production
  • Consolidation of tools into one single platform
  • Easy to Mobile-enabling applications with SAP Work Zone and Mobile Start app
The platform’s modularity and amount of services require a steep learning curve, especially for teams unfamiliar with SAP’s ecosystem. Navigating its interface and configuring services often demands specialised knowledge, and integration with non-SAP systems can be complex without extensive customisation. Additionally, while powerful, some tools within SAP Business Technology Platform lack intuitive design and streamlined workflows, which can slow down adoption and reduce developer efficiency in fast-paced environments.
It has been very good since every time I had a technical issue, I contacted support and they jumped on a call with me to identify and resolve the problem. Specially with new services.
I have seen and used at least one use case - I used several boosters and the Integration Automation service

SAP Business Technology Platform is highly suitable for AI agentic development, particularly when workflows require dynamic orchestration, modular service integration, and real-time decisioning. However, it may be less effective in environments where backend services are fully encapsulated and do not expose interfaces or events that SAP Business Technology Platform can interact with—limiting its ability to orchestrate or extend those services meaningfully.
