Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integration Suite

we use SAP Integration Suite to connect external system (weighbridge, plant maintenance) data to S/4 HANA

Pros

  • Pre-built integration flows for SAP product suites
  • Drag and drop interface to create the integration flow solution
  • Complex integration programmable with Java

Cons

  • Would love to see an error handling integration flow object which automatically translate errors into human language, rather than XML (currently)
  • Rather than dumping daily data from SQL database, we integrate the SQL database directly to S/4 HANA Cloud so on a daily basis, the integration flow runs automatically to pull data from the SQL database into S/4 HANA Cloud. Saves 30 mins each day.
Yes, the SQL database is on premise. We use SAP Connector on the machine as the bridge between the SQL database and SAP S/4.
As we are SAP house it makes sense to use SAP Integration Suite as there are pre-built iflows to use rather than building them manually.

Think of SAP Integration Suite as a landscape architect where you can integrate any external systems to SAP cloud products & on-prem products using SAP Connectors. Can't think of any scenarios where is is less appropriate. If you can think it, you can build it with SAP Integration Suite.
