Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

We use SAP S/4HANA Cloud across the business to drive the finance, sales and logistics processes. There is significant integration into a number of other key systems and 3rd party providers. SAP S/4HANA Cloud provides our underlying technology engine that our digital transformation layer will sit on top of and link into.
  • Consistency of process - driven common business process.
  • Capture of data - useful for analysis and reporting.
  • Simplification and integration of processes driven from input rather than retrospective.
  • In early development stages so limited functionality in some areas.
  • API integration in some cases requires a combination of a number of API's to perform a task.
  • Focus is mainly on finance as is SAP's usual way and this limits operational capability in some areas.
  • Enhanced visibility of information.
  • Streamlining of standard business processes.
  • Always up to date with upgrades.
We are still the early stages following implementation. The users who were heavily involved in the development, implementation and testing of the product picked it up very well and their knowledge is advanced. Remotes users have found it a little more difficult to get acclimatised to the different functionality and the breadth of apps available. Most of the screen are reasonably intuitive although without an understanding of some of the defaults, a user can get into some difficulty. It is a bit early to tell what the overall acceptance rate will be.
We were looking for the latest technology and public cloud based solution to standardise processes, limit customisation and maintain an up-to-date software stack. I haven't looked at this type of desired outcome before but we decided to be relatively early adopters of this solution. We compared to some other public cloud type solutions and multi-tenant, hosed solutions. The decision to choose SAP S/4HANA Cloud was based on taking a long term view of where the product is headed rather than a short term - what is here now - view.

Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued)
SAP S/4HANA Cloud is pretty well suited to very simple and standard business practices. The beauty of the product is in providing consistent, replicable outcomes from similar processes and data input. The capture and analysis of the data input provides good insights to the business but there is still some lack of functionality and process clarification due to the early development phase. From an integration perspective, due to the underlying nature of a public cloud solution, the process for developing automated and complex integrations can be complex, frustrating and, in some cases fraught with danger. Complex testing is required to ensure the API's work in perfect synch with one another to produce the desired outcome

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Support

Local support from our SAP S/4HANA Cloud team in Australia is excellent. This is somewhat offset at times by the 'silo' approach to incident management globally and the lack of communication and clarity from various support centres throughout the globe From an implementation partner perspective, a general lack of the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud solution knowledge has been an inhibitor to success and this has been shown out through consultants and support agents 'learning on the fly' from us as their client.
