Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

We mainly use S4H for OTC and Finance (Business Partners, Materials, Sales Contracts, Sales Orders, billing, collections). We also have Concur and Employee master. I Mainly work in integrations, hence, the API and web services are my main point of contact with he product. The main challenge in our organization is the complexity to adapt the product to the business needs. Each time we need to adjust any functionality, it is months of work, with a lot of regression testing for all the different countries. Moreover, the Business Partner API has huge limitations for update scenarios. And why do we still have IDOCS for HR master?

Pros

  • Extensively offering of API
  • Possibility to customize the web services and the APIs
  • High level of service professionals to support customization

Cons

  • To handle the Employee master data (when you don't have success factors, it's with IDOCS that it's a quite legacy technology. There are no standard API available.
  • SAP is a tool that works fine when the full landscape is SAP, that makes sense, but not all the companies are able to migrate everything to SAP products (considering that it might be quite expensive as well) hence, adapting the whole landscape to SAP is quite challenging.
  • The connection to tax authorities is not standard but with BTP, hence, to submit information to legal authorities to have to hire a new product making the solution quite expensive comparing it to others in the market.
  • We centralized all the finance operations though all the different legal entities allowing us to centralize the operations, the billing and thee reporting and consolidation.
  • Improved efficiency as many backoffice operations were centralized to support SAP processes instead of having them in the countries.
  • It increased the total cost of ownership as the different countries had less expensive systems and the licensing on SAP + the team that supports and maintains the operation is quite big.
I used to use the old version of SAP and I don't really like FIORI.
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Other
We needed a enterprise level tool to centralize the operation of multiple countries and none of the solutions in place in the rest of the countries was able to support all the operation and the transactional level.
We are moving forward to enable Joule into our ecosystem. However, we are also analyzing the cost to enable them as we've been offered some months of free trial but it's not clear the final price.

Do you think SAP Cloud ERP delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with SAP Cloud ERP's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP Cloud ERP live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP Cloud ERP go as expected?

No

Would you buy SAP Cloud ERP again?

Yes

SAP is a tool designed for big companies, the price, the scope and the way it works, if you need an enterprise global level tool, SAP is what you need. It has everything. But it's true also that the business has to adapt to SAP and not the other way around. And the change management is quite difficult.
