Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud
I manage the shared services function and this includes AR, P2P Vendor on barding, Customer onboarding, Banking payments, Concur payment processing, Credit cards, asset management and creation and write offs we have been working to understand the uplift benefits in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and Rise and also working to understand how we can leverage - the team have been using prior ERP version for 20+ years so it has been a huge change management process for them in the transactional space
Pros
- FIORI apps - enable our field teams to transact
- Opportunities to attend online, virtual and in person education evets
- real time data analytics- we can pul data into the lake and see real time - historically we did this manually
Cons
- having an academy to enable learnings - how did the transaction work before and what does that look like in FIORI - that targets non technical transactional SEMs
- visibility into financial and operational data
- increased efficiency
- Cloud Solutions
- Scalability
- Integration with Other Systems
This was communicated to us by head of D&T as art of the Rise uplift project
we are starting to explore this for my transactional teams now - with a proof of concept hopefully delivered in the new year with the view to expand this
we did not persue due to cost limitations

With the move to Rise the opportunity to have all workflows and approvals in one inbox is an exceptional feature for our operational teams
We are looking to integrate Open Text in the coming months this will support our invoice processing in a positive way
Being able to access all data through the data lake - has supported me and my transactional teams to drive improvements through real time data as opposed to excel snap shots
We are just working with D&T on a proof of concept for AI Agents and Joule
We are just work-shopping a pilot proof of concept now - to look to deploy across our business in the new year
SAP Adoption
We were involved with the D&T teams with many updates, testing and were part of the testing requirements build - the team wanted to test more and were able with the support of D&T choose which Fiori apps and transactions required testing - the team are the SMEs and know what can go wrong/what has been missed in the past so it was a vast testing regime they created for themselves
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
The learning opportunities shared by D&T teams was moving from gui to FIORI apps - they are also supporting us in understanding what benefits this can bring for us and the end users -
Our D&T team keeps my 4 transactional teams informed and educated - they also share articles, videos and learnigns they bring back from SPA events and conferences
D&T ran this
From a user perspective, implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud highlighted the importance of early engagement with processes and change management. What went well was adopting SAP’s standard processes, which made daily tasks more consistent and predictable. Users appreciated the Fiori interface and real-time reporting capabilities. If we were to implement again, we would focus more on hands-on training, data readiness, and early involvement in testing to better understand system behavior and reduce learning curves. Overall, preparation and user support proved critical to ensuring a smoother transition and higher adoption.

Evaluating SAP S/4HANA Cloud and Competitors
I was not involved with this decision but was consulted to share the opportunities that the upgrade would provide my transnational teams
I would prefer a SAP online module classroom style training for my teams - they are transactional - the ability to read a manula, work tough online and have someone show you is a good combination for non technical people
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Implementation
- The most significant issues we encountered during the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation were primarily around process standardisation and data migration. Transitioning legacy, highly customised processes into the cloud-required redesign to fit SAP best practices, which sometimes caused delays and required intensive stakeholder alignment. Data quality and consistency from multiple source systems posed challenges, particularly for master data and historical transactional data. Integrations through our D&T team also required careful planning to ensure system-to-system connections were robust and scalable. Finally, managing change adoption across business teams proved critical, as users needed time and support to adapt to new processes and Fiori-based interfaces.
