Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

I manage the shared services function and this includes AR, P2P Vendor on barding, Customer onboarding, Banking payments, Concur payment processing, Credit cards, asset management and creation and write offs we have been working to understand the uplift benefits in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and Rise and also working to understand how we can leverage - the team have been using prior ERP version for 20+ years so it has been a huge change management process for them in the transactional space

Pros

  • FIORI apps - enable our field teams to transact
  • Opportunities to attend online, virtual and in person education evets
  • real time data analytics- we can pul data into the lake and see real time - historically we did this manually

Cons

  • having an academy to enable learnings - how did the transaction work before and what does that look like in FIORI - that targets non technical transactional SEMs
  • visibility into financial and operational data
  • increased efficiency
Its a big change for users on the ground transacting if they need to move to FIORI
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
This was communicated to us by head of D&T as art of the Rise uplift project
we are starting to explore this for my transactional teams now - with a proof of concept hopefully delivered in the new year with the view to expand this
we did not persue due to cost limitations

We are looking to integrate Open Text in the coming months this will support our invoice processing in a positive way
Being able to access all data through the data lake - has supported me and my transactional teams to drive improvements through real time data as opposed to excel snap shots

We are just work-shopping a pilot proof of concept now - to look to deploy across our business in the new year

SAP Adoption

We were involved with the D&T teams with many updates, testing and were part of the testing requirements build - the team wanted to test more and were able with the support of D&T choose which Fiori apps and transactions required testing - the team are the SMEs and know what can go wrong/what has been missed in the past so it was a vast testing regime they created for themselves
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
The learning opportunities shared by D&T teams was moving from gui to FIORI apps - they are also supporting us in understanding what benefits this can bring for us and the end users -
Our D&T team keeps my 4 transactional teams informed and educated - they also share articles, videos and learnigns they bring back from SPA events and conferences
From a user perspective, implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud highlighted the importance of early engagement with processes and change management. What went well was adopting SAP’s standard processes, which made daily tasks more consistent and predictable. Users appreciated the Fiori interface and real-time reporting capabilities. If we were to implement again, we would focus more on hands-on training, data readiness, and early involvement in testing to better understand system behavior and reduce learning curves. Overall, preparation and user support proved critical to ensuring a smoother transition and higher adoption.

Evaluating SAP S/4HANA Cloud and Competitors

From a business perspective, one key insight from the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation is the importance of early alignment on process standardisation. Since we weren’t directly involved in the technology build, we saw that having clear business requirements upfront and embracing SAP’s best-practice processes made adoption smoother. Data readiness and consistency were also critical clean, well-structured master and transactional data significantly reduced issues downstream. Additionally, change management and user engagement were vital; teams needed time, training, and support to adapt to new Fiori-based interfaces and workflows. Finally, close collaboration with the D&T team ensured that business objectives stayed central throughout the implementation.
I was not involved with this decision but was consulted to share the opportunities that the upgrade would provide my transnational teams
I would prefer a SAP online module classroom style training for my teams - they are transactional - the ability to read a manula, work tough online and have someone show you is a good combination for non technical people

  • The most significant issues we encountered during the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation were primarily around process standardisation and data migration. Transitioning legacy, highly customised processes into the cloud-required redesign to fit SAP best practices, which sometimes caused delays and required intensive stakeholder alignment. Data quality and consistency from multiple source systems posed challenges, particularly for master data and historical transactional data. Integrations through our D&T team also required careful planning to ensure system-to-system connections were robust and scalable. Finally, managing change adoption across business teams proved critical, as users needed time and support to adapt to new processes and Fiori-based interfaces.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Training

  • In-Person Training
  • No Training

Configuring SAP S/4HANA Cloud

We are not technical - however the D&T team work with us for to ensure our apps work the way we need them to - for us in the back end transacting and for the BPs who need to contact us and vendors
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - We have attempted to keep is as off the shelf as possible

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Support

We were not in direct contact - but instead through our D&T team so its difficult to know what may have caused some delays
ProsCons
Knowledgeable team
Kept well informed
Problems left unsolved
Escalation required
Difficult to get immediate help
Need to explain problems multiple times
Support doesn't seem to care
When SAP team had a workshop to run us through SIgnavio - it was a great workshop hosted with many parts of our business and was very insightful for my transactional teams

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Reliability

We see SAP S/4HANA Cloud as highly scalable, designed to support multiple departments and sites with consistent processes. On a scale of 1-10, we would rate its scalability around 8, reflecting its flexibility to grow with the organization. While we would prefer more customisation to tailor processes to our specific business needs, it is unclear whether this is a limitation of internal resources or system capabilities. Overall, the platform provides a solid foundation for scaling operations, but careful planning and engagement with internal teams are important to fully leverage its potential.
Is availble when needed
From a user perspective, SAP S/4HANA Cloud performs very well. Pages load quickly, and report, even complex financial one, complete in a reasonable time frame. System downtime is rare, and transaction refresh rates are fast, allowing users to work efficiently without delays. Integrations with other systems do not noticeably slow performance, and workflows remain smooth across connected applications. Overall, we would rate the system’s performance at 9 out of 10, reflecting its reliability, responsiveness, and ability to handle day-to-day business operations effectively.

Relationship with SAP

We do not work directly with them - but with our internal teams - they ahve been supportive and provided updates wuickly when we request this
While we don’t work directly with SAP as a vendor post-sale, our experience working through our D&T team has been largely positive. The SAP model encourages structured engagement, clear governance, and reliance on standardised processes, which helps maintain stability and alignment across the platform. Support, upgrades, and enhancements are delivered in a predictable and well-defined way, reducing risk and unexpected impacts. Any interactions that do occur with SA, such as incident support or roadmap-driven changes are typically coordinated by D&T, which streamlines communication and ensures consistency. Overall, this approach has enabled us to focus on business outcomes rather than vendor management, resulting in a collaborative and effective post-sale experience.
