Overall Satisfaction with Shiny
Shiny is a tool to create dynamic and interactive visualizations and that is how I have used it throughout with a few of my clients.
- Dynamic visualization
- Showcase interactive drop downs to choose from
- Showcase sliders to select values
- Shiny can be really time consuming to create visuals.
- It needs excellent knowledge of R programming and coding skillset.
- It still has a limited set of options to choose from.
Shiny can be a good tool in academic but its not upto standard of TMT industry but could possibly be useful in life science industry (which is where its more prevalent usually), its good as its mostly free (not including cost of servers and compute). I would rank its performance lower to any of the above industry tools I work with as Shiny is more complex, requires programming and domain skillset, hard to scale up.
Do you think Shiny delivers good value for the price?
Are you happy with Shiny's feature set?
Did Shiny live up to sales and marketing promises?
I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process
Did implementation of Shiny go as expected?
Would you buy Shiny again?
Shiny can be a complex tool for business intelligence needs, which requires a high level of coding skills and R programming knowledge base and a dashboard in Shiny can not be put together by a non-programmer business stakeholder. This tool is more suited for academic settings as the code can become lengthy and complex to integrate new enhancements.
