Overall Satisfaction with Shiny
We use Shiny in our labs to create data dashboards for a lay audience. It's a very effective tool for creating data visualizations for a lay audience. Essentially it allows data experts to create important visualizations that can be easily accessed by the end-users we are targeting. We use it frequently.
- Data tables are appealing to look at.
- Enables us to create trend indexes in an effective way.
- Easy to integrate with the rest of my R syntax.
- There's definitely a learning curve.
- There's a lot of functionality such as HTML widgets that require more than just R experience.
- There are a variety of tools available, but it can be tough to know where to start.
- Scatterplot
- Index trends.
- DataTables
- Allows us to communicate with lay audience.
- Allows us to create effective visuals for clients.
- Allows us to save money compared to expensive other visualization software.
Shiny is much cheaper to use than Tableau Desktop and Microsoft Power BI. It's not as fancy, and maybe not as effective, but you save lots of money by using Shiny over the previously listed alternatives. The graphs and charts you can make in Shiny are very good for communicating data to a lay audience.
