Overall Satisfaction with Snowflake

We use Snowflake as a virtual warehouse to hold our data in a layer which is organised in a way that is ready and efficient for analysing. We drop data into it with a scheduled ETL tool, and then use a BI tool to refresh the data extracts overnight each night.
  • Scales up and down seamlessly
  • Only charges when it's being used
  • Easy and transparent to use
  • Coding language is a little tricky in places, not quite the SQL used elsewhere
  • Setting up not quite as seamless as expected
  • We are able to manage our usage perfectly, keeping costs down
  • It will scale with us, immediately and transparently
Snowflake fits perfectly into our BI stack, with Matillion delivering the data on a daily schedule, and feeding into Tableau for analysis and further manipulating.
Once set up, and placed in the BI stack, you can forget about it and let it do its magic. If anything needs investigation, it's there, and transparent enough to understand what's going on and why.
As a small, growing business, the model is ideal for us as it can scale perfectly with us, and our needs of this layer of our stack.
