Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager
We currently use SolarWinds network configuration manager across the entire organization. It helps keep multiple teams organized and on the same page as they move forward on projects. When we have collaboration needs and multiple teams are working towards the same goal, it is really helpful to have a single location to keep our configs. If someone is out, their teammates can step in and provide instant help.
- It provides a single pane of glass that multiple teams can share at the same time.
- Reduces the time spent on repetitive tasks, includes automation functionality.
- Out of the box, it is compatible with most vendors.
- The device configuration management tool allows us to stay on top of the end of life and end of service situations.
- I would like to see more a la cart pricing options.
- It can be difficult to effectively set up without professional services.
- Professional services are hit or miss.
- The time saved in reduced mistakes and time saved in rolling back mistakes is worth it.
- Standards across the network where there were previously none; NCM allows this to happen without a lot of effort.
- It frees up engineer level staff to work on projects instead of filling out spreadsheets to document changes.
- Operations Manager i (formerly HP Operations Manager)
Operations Manager was a good product, but it does not provide an all in one solution like SolarWinds does. It is more expensive and does not have the same capabilities. We switched and haven't looked back. Our network team was the most vocal in the decision and we followed their suggestions. that is why we selected NCM.
