Overall Satisfaction with SQL Sentry Performance Advisor

We are using SQL Sentry to monitor all of our Production database instances.

Pros

  • Wait Stats collection and maintenance
  • Built in Plan explorer
  • Keylookups and Forwarded Records monitor

Cons

  • I personally think that we should have a flexibility to add any additional monitoring as a custom monitoring for the entities that are not available.
  • I would like to see an option to monitor the SQL Waits for a particular period on a given instance
I've not considered any other monitoring solutions for SQL Server since I feel SQL Sentry has been most useful when compared to Foglight.
SQL Sentry has been extremely helpful in understanding and fixing the production challenges. Making the DBA job easy
