Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Online

Originally, my company purchased Tableau Desktop which I believe became Tableau Creator or something similar. This new version included Online as well as the old Desktop features. Our intention was to use Online to display non-sensitive dashboards with the clients. We moved away from Online to Datorama for easier sharing with the client.

Pros

  • Work distribution.
  • Browser editing capabilities.
  • Collaboration.

Cons

  • It can be slow.
  • Not ideal for sensitive data.
  • Initial set-up with Desktop not super intuitive.
Like previously mentioned, Online and Desktop were eventually rolled together to be one offering the last time I checked. If you'll be sharing reports with other Tableau users then Desktop would be just fine.
It's nearly as good as Desktop but really shines with its in-browser editing. The only downside is that there can be a noticeable slowdown within the browser depending on the task.
