Tableau Server: "Big Fan Review"https://www.trustradius.com/business-intelligence-biTableau ServerUnspecified8.15751012018-08-24T00:02:15.974Z
Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Server
Tableau Server is used today as our BI system of choice, primarily for analytical purposes. That is, our healthcare analysts use Tableau for ad-hoc analysis purposes. However, we likely will be converting our standard BI solution to Tableau in the near future.
- Development time is significantly less in Tableau relative to many competitor platforms. We have numerous examples where we have transitioned existing assets to Table and done so in 10-20% of the original development time. Big ROI factor there.
- Training and ease of use is simple. Not a large learning curve.
- Server deployment could not be easier.
Was not permitted to deploy originally because we supported no Windows servers. That roadblock has been cleared and now that a Linux version of the server software is available, we're good. Utilizing Tableau online is not an option in the healthcare space due to HIPAA and other regulatory restrictions.
We do not deploy sophisticated user permissions in my current organization, but have deployed solutions with row-level security in previous organizations. Data level permissions are limited (or were 2 years ago) but role-based security is solid.
Overall good. However, we use Exasol, and the native driver (for some time) did not work when published to the server, so we needed to us ODBC to get assets to interact with Exasol properly. Less boutique solutions are solid.
Very good. Offers us tremendous speed and flexibility in the development of and deployment of analytical assets.
I've had very good experiences with Tableau support on all front. Support community is outstanding.
Our analytics team is big on developing narrative around data and we have found no other tool on the market to support that (and do so efficiently) than Tableau. It provides balance of standard washboarding and BI capabilities with unparalleled support for ad-hoc analytical scenarios (and distribution of those assets).
