Teamcenter review made by PLM Head.
Overall Satisfaction with Teamcenter
Teamcenter is one of our essential tools. To be honest - my favorite one. We use it to manage product data and its lifecycle. We have customized change management, which has four stages. What else? Product Data Management. Do you need any new items or workflow? Nothing stands in the way of creating it. Knowledge of Teamcenter development can be useful; it's a power not everyone has. Teamcenter is a potent tool. We use also Product Cost Management, we have CATIA and NX integrated, which solved a lot of time. Next plans? Yes, we have a list of it with priorities added, so we know what to implement first. What's on top? Topics needed to run a business well, save people time, etc. In summary, I recommend TC as a tool for your company.
Pros
- Data Management: your Parts divided into Item Types.
- Data Management: You can easily add pseudo folders to segregate data inside. You don't have to look for anything now.
- Change Management: Use the built-in or customize it. Now, you have workflows and can decide who is responsible for every task. It's done automatically.
- Project Management - built-in MS Project, can manage tasks and still have a Gantt chart from it.
- CAD integration - a lot of time saved when single source of true.
Cons
- Projects tab, easier way to manage smart folders.
- Where use/referenced reports -> build in to show in excel, not im impact analysis only.
- Build-in change management - it would be good to have one template to be used in the automotive industry.
- Cheaper manufacturing licenses.
- Saved more than 50% of CAD Designer time to draw model.
- Change Management significantly impacts lessons learned; you can easily find the influence of a single change in design.
- A well-trained development team can save 80% of the money on development cases.
