Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Teamcenter as the source of truth for all Product Engineering Designs. The system has been live for three years, and it was selected to deploy Change Control and a single source of truth for Engineering product designs.

Pros and Cons

Pros

AWC has a user friendly UI - Rich client was brutal in that respect.
Global Search is powerful.

Cons

Opening up workflows from the item revision is complicated.
Browser users typically only care about downloading PDFs. Can you enable this feature in the global search or home page?
Creation of items in mass, or simple bom changes in many items.
PDF print does not work on any version; we get so many complaints from the users on this.
Allow deletion of items to be more simple.
Item rev ID changes are blocked in AWC but in Rich client you were able to do it.
Multi level impact analysis for item revisions with revision rule as a filter.

Return on Investment

Better configuration management control.
Enables Business processes.
Secures IP.

Scalability

We were able to deploy it quickly and use almost all OOTB functionality without the need for customizations for the first two years.

TC AWC is the most user-friendly PLM system in the industry. Siemens's support and continuous feature releases are phenomenal. The only area for improvement is the SaaS model; the services are overpriced for the quality of work we receive.
