Overall Satisfaction with Teamwork Projects

Our web design/development department uses Teamwork Projects to manage our projects where we build new websites, primarily WordPress sites, for clients. It allows us to collaborate externally with clients (gathering assets, collecting feedback, grouping conversations into one place) and internally with all members of the team (tasks, communication, milestones, and assets). It makes all the communication easier since it's centralized in one location, and the tool itself is very easy to use.
  • It's easy to upload and view documents, especially when you need to refer back to them later.
  • It's GREAT to have the chat threads right in the project. I can't tell you how many times I've gone back and searched for a specific client response, and it's way easier than email since the whole team can see it, even if they weren't included in the thread originally (no digging through emails and forwarding them to people who weren't originally included)!
  • It's really easy to get in there and get started. While we're very familiar with it, each client we introduce to it is new to it, so it's important that they can get started right away and not get tripped up by the tool itself. Teamwork really streamlines the onboarding process--you can literally get started using the tool right away.
  • I never use the dashboard view, which isn't necessarily a con, and I don't have specific recommendations, but perhaps there's a way to make that more useful.
  • Sometimes it gets a little confusing about where a comment is. Did the person comment on a file that was uploaded? A thread? Somewhere else? Even then, though, you can usually search to find it, so that's not a real complaint.
  • It has saved us a lot of time on client projects.
  • It makes the client happy since the project is so smooth and streamlined, which can lead to future work with the same client. But even if not, it's always great to make the client happy on even just one project.
  • Teamwork's cost is very fair, so it's not hard to have a positive ROI.
Basecamp's user interface isn't as friendly, and it's much harder to find your way around. As web developers ourselves, if we can find our way around a web-based tool, we can't recommend it to our clients, so we tried Teamwork, found it was very easy to use, and have since recommended it to numerous clients.
I have not contacted them for support but that already is a good sign -- the tool is so easy to use, I haven't needed any support!
It is great for internal communications, but it is especially useful for projects with external clients, particularly if there is a lot of communication, file sharing, and feedback. Sometimes it's just too much for email to handle! Teamwork makes it easy for people to jump in and get the info they need when they need it without being inundated with loads of emails they don't need.

Using Teamwork Projects

It is VERY easy to get started using, and easy to continue using as well. Everyone I've talked to says the same thing--it's a very short time to be up, running, and using it daily.
