Overall Satisfaction with Teradata Vantage

We use Teradata Vantage as consolidated Enterprise Data Warehouse. We use it for KPI evaluation, reporting, consolidating data source and data governance. We also use it to prepare customer features used for predictive models. We use predictive models, ML and AI primarily in Azure, but we also test simple models directly in Teradata EDW, if the necessary data is available there.

Pros

  • MPP - massive parallel processing
  • managing concurrent workloads
  • SQL analytics

Cons

  • client tools - they look like they did 20 years ago
  • AI support for working with EDW (code preparation, error analysis and corrections, model knowledge)
  • Better integration with third parties SW
  • consolidated customer data enables the rapid launch of campaigns for new services
  • A uniform way of storing consolidated data enables quick familiarization of new employees.
  • savings due to the elimination of data swamps and shadow IT systems
Slower introduction of new features into the Teradata ecosystem
Teradata Vantage complements the above products, but Teradata Vantage is excellent for data analytics.

Do you think Teradata Vantage delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Teradata Vantage's feature set?

Yes

Did Teradata Vantage live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Teradata Vantage go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Teradata Vantage again?

Yes

Suitable for large companies working with large volumes of data and many concurrent workloads and at the same time requiring a high level of security and monitoring of user activities.
It is not suitable for companies/teams working "on the edge" using the latest technologies/methods/algorithm versions, etc.It takes some time to implement new features, which is understandable given the MPP and share nothing architecture.
