Overall Satisfaction with ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes

Malware seems to be an ever-escalating platform for the bad actors of the world. Malicious emails, infected websites and text scams are an ever-prevalent fact of the current environment. Finding tools to fight the ongoing battle that don't require constant hand-holding and monitoring might seem elusive, but are a realizable dream for IT professionals. Rolling out ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes on all systems has facilitated Patch Management (Windows and a ton of 3rd party software are supported), Installed Software Audits, Ransomware Rollback and malware detection/remediation from a single interface. Saves me time and effort, which adding confidence.

Pros

  • Patch Management
  • Software Inventory Audits
  • Malware Detection and Remediation
  • Browser extension

Cons

  • Nothing comes to mind.
  • Low cost for a lot of functionality
  • I'm certain that many exploits that would have made it through traditional anti-virus products have been stopped.
  • Adding new substantial features (e.g. Patch Management) over the years has kept ThreatDown (formerly Malwarebytes) valuable.
It simply works. It doesn't require the hand-holding and monitoring that some other solutions do. It's simple to deploy and maintain, and adding custom content such as Exceptions require minimal effort. I’ve had to add a few exceptions for internal-use, in-house-developed tools, but it’s quite simple to do so within the online interface.
ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes, performs so many more functions than simple, traditional anti-virus tools. The cost is less than most others too! The centralized deployment and management console is super-easy to use, yet highly functional. In this day and age, I’m a bit leery of products from certain countries, so that eliminated one on my list that I used to trust..

Do you think ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Yes

Did ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes again?

Yes

In a smaller organization, the tool is extremely valuable. I didn't used to have tools for patch management, software audits and ransomware rollback -- but since I became a ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes (formerly Malwarebytes), customer many years ago, they added all of these features. In a larger company -- especially in 2024 -- perhaps you have dedicated tools such as InTune to help with some of this. But even with dedicated tools, I don't feel comfortable with just Windows Defender or WebRoot or (insert any standard anti-virus solution name here). ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes, consistently finds and blocks items that the other don't. Adding it to my arsenal was one of the best IT purchases I've made. It's not expensive and has a breadth of useful functionality.

Using ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes

29 - End users don’t interact with the product at all, other then when prompted to reboot for updates. Every system in our organization has the tool installed, but it’s very easy for a single person to manage all aspects of this tool. A few minutes a week is all that’s really required.
1 - Minimal skills are required. The interface is very straightforward and well-designed. Deployment to new systems is very simple. The Patch Management aspect (which is optional — use it to whatever degree you prefer — from “not at all” to “push updates to 3rd-party tools daily”) does require a bit of technical knowledge.
  • Add an extra layer of protection to all systems.
  • Manage patch status for Windows and many 3rd-party tools on all systems.
  • Easy auditing of all installed software on any system.
  • Patch Management
  • Software audits
  • Rollback
  • Ramsomware Rollback
When I first used the tool in my home systems MANY years ago, I wished for a Business version. I was once at a focus group for a major antivirus company, and one attendee’s feedback to “what could we do better?” was “buy out MalwareBytes and add it to your tool”. I’ve used the Business version since it first became available, and have continued to be a dedicated user through the many iterations and improvements.

Evaluating ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes and Competitors

It’s been well over 10 years, so there’s nothing of change.

ThreatDown, powered by Malwarebytes Implementation

I first implemented this more than 10 years ago, when it required an in-site setup with SQL Server (or SQL Express), and even that was pretty easy. With the move to centralized web management some treats ago, it’s become even easier to deploy.
Change management was minimal
