Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire

we are using Spotfire as our main reporting tool. Previously we used Business Objects, but we don’t use it anymore. With Spotfire we make daily reports about our production results, OEE, etc. Also we use Spotfire-dashboards for management. We are using it through the whole organization from CEO to Teamleader.
  • The drill down of data works very well. No static reports anymore, but fancy reports, from which you can check the details (by the drill down).
  • the relations which can be found in the data can be very helpful.
  • I find it very useful that we can make one report with several datasources underneath. (I'm used to Business Objects, you couldn't do that very easy in that too.)
  • You can make a basic report with different tabs in it, f.e. For stock and use this report as a ‘linked report’ in several other reports. So you keep your maintenance low.
  • We use often the possibility of using one report for several kind of users. = one view!
  • Spotfire reports are very ‘visual’, you can see, in one view where the deviations are.
  • The courses aren't good. No documentation and I think it's called 'robotcourses'. You get to know what you can do with Spotfire (how to click), but principles, pros and cons aren't explained.
  • Spotfire could pay more attention to the dataset, how it's best organized to get the best results from your reports.
  • It would be helpful if the course could be held in Dutch.
  • A reduced set of reports, instead of all different kind of reports
Tibco TDV, i don’t like it very much
  • SAP Business Objects
See previous answers. Business Objects is better in static reports and better in nicely printable reports. Spotfire is better for dynamic reports, also with the 'tag'-possibility, I think we can better exchange knowledge.

Do you think Spotfire delivers good value for the price?

Are you happy with Spotfire's feature set?

Did Spotfire live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Spotfire go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Spotfire again?

Making trends is very easy to do with this tool in short time.

Making a kind of reports which you can make very easily with Business Objects ( a lot of numeric values on a page, with a small lettersize) is not easy to do and it doesn't look nice. It's not 'pixelperfect'.

Spotfire Training

  • Online Training
  • In-Person Training
Too fast training. Overload information.
No documentation. Only ' how to', no 'when do you use what' or two methods to gain the same, what's the best. Plus videos, so boring. Plus no training environment to test for yourself.

Using Spotfire

  • Give a highlight of the current situation
  • A visual lear picture
  • Make a printable report.
  • Display text which is sometimes a lot of text and sometimes almost nothing.
A very nice flexibel tooling.
different tabs for different users in one report.
linking of reports in reports!
Yes - We have problems with the Security. So it’s not working very well.
