Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is not used internally within our organization, but we helped our clients get it implemented within their organization. I would take an example of a client from the Oil & Gas sector to answer this question and rest of the questions. This client used it within the Planning & Strategy department. It was used to create dashboards for their future planning of demand-supply management.

Pros and Cons

As compared to other similar products (Tableau, PowerBI), Spotfire is more advanced when it comes to integrating with programming languages. In this particular project, all the data was processed in R and this processed data was to be used in dashboards. It was well integrated with Spotfire through TERR.

The visual aesthetics of the charts/graphs prepared using Spotfire can be improved when compared with other competing products.
Also, the user interface is not very intuitive for first-time users. It takes practice before one gets really comfortable using it.

Return on Investment

As mentioned earlier, this was implemented for a client's side so it is difficult for me to comment on ROI, in specific. However, given that they have been using it for a long time, it must be adding value to their business.
