Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Spotfire is used across the whole organization, for scientific data visualization.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Various visualization templates with easy drop-to-show functions.
TERR/Infolinks for customized data operation.
Library and web player for easy sharing of analysis results.

Cons

More integration with Python.
More support on different column type in database connection, like TSvector in PostgreSQL.
Animation of the data, like gif-export of data changing over a given time window.

Alternatives Considered

Tableau Desktop, Qlik Sense, JMP Pro and Microsoft Power BI

I have access to tools mentioned above, but I use Spotfire most, because most colleagues I'm working with have Spotfire access, and sharing data and visulization in Spotfire is the most convenient way.

Return on Investment

Very positive, we have a local, regular report built with Spotfire and accessed from web player.

asking for help from online/email support is the most straightforward way to imporve

Likelihood to Recommend

It's good enough for daily use, more complicated visualization can be accomplished from easily scripting. It did confuse me that there are many products under Spotfire, sometimes, I have to explain the differences, but I'm not sure if it is absolutely correct.
