Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Spotfire

Spotfire is widely used by business analysts at my company for data analysis and data visualization purposes. It would especially valuable for someone who was only using Excel and/or VBA for data analysis.

The latest version of Spotfire enables users to join data without any friction. For example, if the column in one table has different prefixes and/or postfixes, the tool would automatically join the two tables together without causing any potential debugging alarm or issues which makes a business analyst's work easy.

With the online training that I got, I am able to be more confident to operate the tool without trying to figure out the stuff one by one myself. What is more, the training also give me the ability to make critical modification which helps us to adjust the tool in the future.
RStudio, Atom, Docker
The tool is well suited for data analysts or business analysts who only have been using Excel or VBA for data analysis. On the other hand, the tool is not as good as R or Python which have much better analysis capabilities.

Evaluating TIBCO Spotfire and Competitors

One of the most important factor in my decision is which tool that we are currently using and whether it is sufficient for the current usage. These visualization tools can be replicated or improved if I rewrite the code in python and leverage free open source package to visualize the data but that cost time.
If we are changing the tools again, we might unify the visualization tools into one centralized corporate python package for visualization rather than invest in various data visualization tools which not only expensive but create gaps for different department to leverage the tool and share the information across the organization.
