Performance, Customization and Control over the tool were the key players in the decision. Spotfire was flexible to cater the codes developed earlier with Python and R script; without loosing their utility. Also, it was easier to transition capabilities between systems. For example, We had a Python code for data extraction and transformation and Visualization was getting out of hands. At this moment, we were able to transfer the completed chunks to Spotfire and let the tool handle visualization part of it.

The features offered to visualize and analyze various sources of data were the main driver for us making the switch to Spotfire. The ability to customize these features to the needs of our organization also made the decision to switch a no-brainer for us. We specifically found the customizable dashboards to be extremely useful.

One of the most important factor in my decision is which tool that we are currently using and whether it is sufficient for the current usage. These visualization tools can be replicated or improved if I rewrite the code in python and leverage free open source package to visualize the data but that cost time.

We had the opportunity to test the product for about a month before deciding to proceed with the purchase and in this period we have been able to get quickly in touch with the main functionalities and features, becoming proficient in a very short time. The product was exactly what we were looking for in our activity.

We have another BI tool but too rigid to give easy answers to new requirements. It was necessary to test a not very expensive, yet powerful for a little group of users. We needed to make difficult reports very fast, Spotfire excels in this

Product Features - We were impressed by the amount of options we had inbuilt / embedded in the Spotfire too. The easy navigation and click to use features were quite a few reason to prioritize Spotfire over its near competitors. Also the online community support was quite an exciting features that comes handy.

The single most important factor was usability. Can the product work with our data and deliver the range of visualizations and analytics that we need in order to satisfy our internal stakeholders and our user community. We looked at a number of products leading to this requirement and took feedback from across our organization.

SUPPORT! Hands down this is why I pushed to get Spotfire. We used the Gartner's report initially to choose which BI tools to get demos from. We demoed the best rated and when we chose the best one for the firm we were not happy when it came down to signing for the software because what we were initially told was included in the price was not and then the price doubled on us. We said no way and started over- we tried the second on the list only when we ran into an issue pulling data in to their tool they basically said let us know when you figure it out and we can continue. It was during that time we were introduced to Spotfire and the only thing they ever said was "how can we help" and they DID! There was no turning back with support like that.
