Overall Satisfaction with Tribe Community Platform
We were looking for a way to interact with our community and considered Tribe since it seemed more modern than other alternatives. We've started with the Free Trial since we saw it provided the features we needed for a community: custom domain, theme control, and supported up to 500 members.
Tribe provides admins with the ability to customize their community, but this customization is limited, and you usually have to stick with its layout, which is unfortunate because it's way too overcultured and it's hard to navigate it. It looks like it tries to go after Facebook groups, but there are too many windows on the screen which makes it very hard to navigate.
It takes a long time to really set up a community with a good user experience that reflects your brand.
The good thing about tribe is its additional apps (like social login, virtual currency, etc). Unfourantely most of them are limited to plans that range from $85/m to $249/m and beyond, and I can't really figure out why. Providing a Facebook Messenger integration is really a matter of 1 line of JavaScript, why do I need to pay $249 to use it?

Pros
- Use your own domain
- Apps (although they require a subscription of $85/m - $249/m to use)
- Activity reports
- Decent customization
Cons
- Terrible user experience (especially on mobile), way too overclutered
- Restricted to Tribe's default layout
- You have to pay $85/m - $249/m to get access to apps, support and remove Tribe logo
- Looks pretty old and works rather slowly
- No real ROI
- Khoros Communities (Formerly Spredfast + Lithium), Hivebrite and Discourse
Khoros Communities & Discourse blow Tribe so out of the water.
