Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows

We have several physical and virtual machines that we required to be backed up as they host critical end user production applications. Our previous backup solution had some short falls with restores and only let us restore the entire machine

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows has let us overcome these shortfalls and also improve our backup strategy

Pros

  • File level restore
  • Backing up of difficult Laptops that are in and off the network
  • Reporting
  • Integration into other Veeam Products

Cons

  • Occasional Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows issues that require manual intervention
  • Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows upgrade process - sometimes requiring several reboots
  • Warning for non supported version of windows when new releases are released from Microsoft - which then requires upgrade once a new version is released
  • Allowed us to move from usind two different backup providers to Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows exclusively, improving our costs considerably
  • Verified backups - before there was no checks or verification on the backups
  • Much more cost effective cloud storage than the provider we moved from
Overall it is a very simple setup process when adding a new endpoint to the backup. The Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is very lightweight compared to previous backup solutions we have used. The only reason for giving a 9 instead of 10 is because of a few small install issues we faced on the initial setup. However support were very quick to help solve these
We used Barracuda for a long time - we started to find restores were becoming clumbersome and often would fail. The dashboard would often have error's where jobs appeared to still be running but had actually failed. There was no access to logs for us to be able to see this but we instead had to contact support everytime.

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows allowed us full file level restores of our Virtual machines - this was not possible with Barracuda (Our file server being the biggest backup where this was an issue)

Our previous backup solution had some short falls with restores and only let us restore the entire machine, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows integrated into our existing Veeam solution and now allows us to restore in any way we require (file level, Image, restore to our chosen VM platform). It also allowed us to simply add cloud backup for all of these devices
