Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for AWS

I currently use Veeam Backup for AWS to store backups offsite with Immutability and Encryption. Some of these features we took advantage of help our overall security posture and meet some of our compliance requirements. Our insurance company also has encouraged us to implement some of these features to reduce downtime if something were to happen. I'm confident in our Veeam and AWS setup that data is protected and accessible if I was need access.

Pros

Cons

  • Setup is somewhat difficult but technical support was able to assist me from Veeam and AWS
  • The immutability can be difficult to understand between the ability in both products
  • Nothing else seemed to need improvement
  • I saved 30% switching to Veeam for AWS and seems to have gained efficiency and reliability.
  • The flexibility Veeam and AWS have is amazing.
  • This setup can be a set-it-and-forget-it or tweaked to anyone's needs.
I have not run into a situation where I have tried to recover to a specific location or from a particular source and it have been unable. Overall, reliability has been fantastic.
The cost has been better that other cloud storage options. Also, the flexibility to run on various hardware and flexibility to store in various locations has been a big selling point. Unitrends was easier to setup and manage as hardware was included. But, with knowledgeable staff, I'm able to manage this backup environment better than ever now.

I like the idea of using this product for backups and cold storage. This allows for long retention times and a very low cost. The ability to quickly restore and the efficiency of all the products involved. I haven't come across scenarios where it isn't appropriate. I don't have a lot of experience so for me, it works well in my cases.
