Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Veeam Backup for AWS suits best when we are already backing up different workloads using Veeam backup, we used Veeam Backup for AWS as Proof Of Concept and tested its working and it was very smooth and efficient with respect to the backup and recovery functionalities and user interface options.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Veeam has been a game-changer for our organization. Since the first day of implementation till now, we have not had any issues with it. It works better than any backup software that we have used in my 25 years in IT. We do not have to worry about failed or missed backups as it just consistently works. It is also so much faster than any other backup software we have used and is very user-friendly. We rarely have to call support but when we have, the support has been top-notch. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

  • Compared to other backup software, I do not see any room for improvement.

Return on Investment

  • Our previous backup solutions were not reliable and very costly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veeam Backup for AWS for a group of VM in IAS suscription. This VM have application for medical auditor on land. It is really importat to hace high availability of this VM al time. We use Veeam Backup for AWS to backup and restore this machine.

Pros

  • Our operator have the same interface por restore on-premise as in cloud VM machine.
  • Veeam Backup for AWS has a full integration with AWS Cloud Computing Platform

Cons

  • The integration of Veeam One will be Great.
  • We are using S3 repository. It is really hard to implement inmutable repository with out this service.
  • The report of its jobs is a litle simple and we have to make inform manually of its jobs.
  • The backup copy is difficult to operate and deploy.

Return on Investment

  • For us, is really importat control the cost of use of S3 account. This point doesn´t appear y reports.
  • The integration to Veeam One (on-premise) to AWS platform isn`t possible. We have a manual report writer for compliace to SGSI.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have used Veeam Backup for AWS for a couple of our clients. One of those clients had multiple workloads on AWS as well as on their office server. We suggested to them that they need a reliable, easy-to-use backup and remove the dependency on their only one server. We said to them that just like the migration (lift & shift) we did for them for many of their workloads to AWS, they now need to have a backup on AWS for at least their critical workloads. Then we worked with them to analyze if that backup should be Veeam Backup for AWS or Rubrik. They decided on Veeam Backup for AWS. There was one more project where did a lift & shift migration and from day one this client is using Veeam Backup for AWS.

Pros

  • Fully automated for AWS EC2
  • Great for DR for multi locations
  • Great support
  • Security assued

Cons

  • We have never managed to use Veeam for Azure or GCP. It works well with AWS.
  • A client needed a multi-cloud DR solution management but we had a security issue and could find a solution from Veeam Backup for AWS.
  • Usually, you need a dedicated resource to monitor when the number of workloads is high. That adds to the cost.

Return on Investment

  • Our clients have had positive ROI with Veeam Backup for AWS.
  • Challenge is multi-cloud hence proper technical assessment must be done.
  • Please consider the need for one or two resources to manage Veeam Backup for AWS depending on the needs and the technical assessment.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We had the need to ensure that our production ERP system, hosted in AWS, had a resilient DR solution in the event that the region we hosted it in was to become unavailable. Veeam Backup for AWS checked all the boxes for cross-account replication and backup of our production workloads into another AWS region. It also helps migrate some infrequently used workloads to our on-premise data center in order to reduce AWS compute and storage charges.

  • Makes failover of production resources simple

Cons

  • Could provide a little more automation of failback
  • Automating VSS support on instances

Return on Investment

  • Compared to other offerings we're saving by paying an annual license fee
  • Have used Veeam Backup for AWS for purposes outside the scope of the initial intentions, adding value
  • Has been invaluable for testing updates/upgrades to production environments
