Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 gives us the safety of knowing our data in the cloud between Exchange, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, etc., are all being backed up in a reliable manner. Even though the product is separate from VB&R, if you are familiar with that, it is very easy to pick up and be familiarized with the UI as they share familiarities.
The main reason for adopting this software was for migration from on-prem exchange to the cloud, and we are pleased with the results. The different explorers for each application make it easy to find what you are looking for, and restores are quick and easy to get going.

- Helpful support
- Support for Linux based proxies
- Implementing native integration into existing VB&R suite
- Allows us to quickly back up 1200+ objects
- Able to accomplish 3-2-1 rule with combination of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 & VB&R
Our organization already was utilizing Veeam's Backup & Replication solution to help backup our on-prem infrastructure, including our Exchange Servers. Once we migrated email from on-prem to the cloud, we were looking for ways to ensure that our mailboxes were still being protected and backed up. That's where Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 came in handy. It gave us a platform we were already familiar with and allowed us to achieve exactly what we were looking for while also allowing us to back up our other assets in Sharepoint, Teams, etc.
There have been multiple times where users have deleted something from their OneDrive that they ended up needing, and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 always provided a quick fix in terms of restores. There was a time when a user was accidentally deleted entirely while still an employee, and we were quickly able to bring back their mailbox as if it had never happened.
The flexibility of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 restore options definitely comes in handy in its moments. Say you want to inspect an object before sharing it with the user, you can simply send the email or attachment to yourself or locally, ensure that it is something you want your user to have, and then be able to share it with them in a safe manner. Restoring to its original destination is also a simple option, and I have not had a single issue or complaint arise from it; I had no issues with any backup integrity, and the backups themselves have been rock solid without issue.
Built-in explorer is such an easy tool to browse backups within a certain point of time, with easy readability and navigation -- never takes long to find what you are looking for, and the options to restore are all self-explanatory.
Restore Portal is another easy-to-enable feature that allows for self-service restores, which is customizable depending on whether you want actual end users, restore operators, or administrators to have the ability to restore from a web application which can be convenient.
