Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
Providing backups of our user shared data space that is utilized for file collaborations and access. In that environment, there exists the possibility for accidental or deliberate removal or alteration of files in a manner detrimental to our buisness. Veeam provides us with a fall-back for those files now that they are in 365, similar to to the fall-back we had when the files were on a local file server in the past.
- Provides an easy to manage backup solution
- Provides good, helpful, and responsive support
- Integration into the larger Veeam sphere
- Clarity over Sharepoint versus Onedrive backups
- License model improvements specifically for shared resources
- We're a nonprofit, so ROI isn't a metric we really track
- It has provided a sense of security for our user data against potential breach that we haven't had to test yet
With the impending failure of hardware that had long hosted our internal file services we made the decision to move to a cloud solution for most of our internal shared files. However, with that move, we moved away from the backup solution that had protected those files on-site. I emphasized to our leadership team that we needed to either acknowledge that they were not interested in protecting that data any longer, or allow us to emplace and assign resources to protecting it. The administration was unwilling.
When the administration team was replaced with competent personnel, and the bungling of the previous group began to come out, we were able to get resources and approval to move towards a solution. In our case, we already were using Veeam for our on-site data needs, so with a team behind us we could make a decision to continue with them.

In the process of migration of our datascape to the cloud during changes in employees, some files fell through the cracks, and others were moved accidentally. We were able to easily recover files that were mismanaged during one such transition
We have been able to pull lost files to local and email them to the user in question for verification and possible restoral at their discretion
Familiarity with the interface from Veeam use minimizes training time, interfacing with existing backup repos make additional infrastructure costs not an issue, and an excellent support team makes asking questions or dealing with problems not something to be dreaded.
