Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

It's being used to make a local copy of our Exchange Online mailboxes. We intend it to be used to take a copy of OneDrive data in the future.
  • Very fast backup of mailboxes.
  • Incremental backups
  • No ability to export backups to the offline archive.
  • No ability to backup to rotating external media.
  • Meets requirement for protection of mailboxes
  • We didn't measure against other solutions.
In looking at Exchange Online we examined the risks and realized that although stored in the cloud where multiple copies of the data existed, there is still a need for an offline backup external to Exchange Online to guard against risks such as accidental deletion of a mailbox.
The interface is straightforward and easy to use. Systems administrators can grasp its usage with very minimal training. Upgrades have kept the same look and feel so re-training has not been necessary. This is one thing we're really happy about.
We have completed test restores of folders and individual mail items on a regular basis but have not had the requirement to complete a restore because of a data loss so far.
Our testing and regularly scheduled restore exercises have seen us restore to PST and to EML, and restore back into the original mailbox. We don't have an on-premise mail server anymore so we don't perform that type of test.
Simplicity: The interface is easy to use, easy to navigate and easy to configure. Speed: The backup speed is incredible. We now take incremental backups of our current mailboxes every two hours. That's impressive.
We haven't used or evaluated any other competing products. As we're already a Veeam Backup & Replication user, we went straight to the Veeam solution as we trust Veeam to deliver.
Support has always been quick and efficient. Even when the issue was due to my lack of knowledge, the service is always there to assist.

Very well suited to the "set & forget" model as it needs only minimal administration to check that backups have completed. Less well suited in scenarios where there are many different retention requirements.
