Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We've recently switched to Veeam to back up our servers after using other software that didn’t work well when restoring, but with Veeam we are able to backup and restore from any restore point we need. We currently use the full edition, the good thing is that now we can include our Office 365 cloud data. We also use Veeam to back up the physical and VM servers as well. It’s so easy to use. When installed, Veeam integrates with your VM systems smoothly. It doesn't require professional training to use it. Overall, Veeam is one of the best backup software I have used.
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
- Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
- NAS filers
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- Solid integration with VMware--Veeam Backup & Replication is ideal for virtualized environments.
- Instant VM recovery
- Easy to deploy and manage
- Free version for Microsoft is available.
- Veeam requires solid hardware infrastructure to be stable otherwise it will perform slowly or may break the backup.
- For standalone servers, Veeam does not support failover cluster backup jobs.
- If not protected well, Veeam backup could be vulnerable to ransomware attacks.
We use Veeam Backup & Replication to back up 5 physical servers and about 7 or 8 virtual servers besides Office 365 in our company. This is less than the number of workloads we
initially were backing up when we implemented Veeam. We switched to Veeam after we
found that our previous backup software was unreliable and the recovery didn’t
work, but after implementing Veeam Backup & Replication we found it to be a reliable and suitable
solution for our needs.

- Veeam Backup & Replication provides greater backup reliability for our systems.
- Simplified the backup process for our IT Department
- Improved risk management and cost-efficiency
We were previously using other backup software and only taking backup and not testing the recovery process. One time we had an issue with one of the servers, and we found ourselves in a situation where we are struggling and unable to recover that server. Then we realized that we needed a more reliable and less complex backup solution. Thus we changed to Veeam Backup & Replication and after using it for over 3 years I can say it was an excellent choice.
Regarding the cloud, we use Veeam Backup & Replication to backup our Office 365 because a total backup for our Office 365 is not provided, which makes our data always available and reduces the single point of loss. We also integrate Veeam with Azure to backup one important system that we use company-wide and we have it on Azure cloud.
We actually don't use this feature as we don't currently have user data on NAS, but we use NAS as initial backup storage with Veeam to store the backup data before the final backup on tap. We found that using secondary back storage is a good strategy to protect the backup data from any possible ransomware attacks.
