Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
Veeam Backup & Replication is being used for our entire company's server and backup systems. We have the majority of our server virtualized so we needed a solution that could handle that load and in a timely fashion. It succeeds in those regards and seems to function better than others we've tried.
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
- Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- Integration with cyber-security tools for SecureRestore
Pros
- Secure restores is useful
- Easy to use and great UI
- Faster than almost all the others
Cons
- More security features
- Easier way to browse completed jobs
- More intuitive advanced tools
All our workloads are being protected by Veeam. This includes local VM copies, data recovery site copies, cloud copies, and any other place we need to throw a copy of a server. Sometimes we need a quick backup before a hurricane or in an emergency, and this product does it all for us.
- Many hours saved in figuring out the backup tools
- Recovery functions are fast, time-savers
- Saved money on antiquated backup options
The higher-ups always want a confirmation that our backups are safe, secure, and easily restorable. Well, with Veeam Backup & Replication we can prove to them all those things and more. It's really a solution to fix a broken, slow, and confusing backup system. Veeam is fast and easy to use.
Leveraging cloud backups is a big sticking point once you start using cloud services and see their prices for backing up your own data. Restoring your own data is even more expensive than storing it in the first place. Being able to pull our cloud data somewhere safe and on cheaper bandwidth is crucial.
File share backup is important in almost any organization. This is the first thing a user asks for when they accidentally delete something and there are no shadow copies available. If you want to impress your CEO, get Veeam and tell them they can delete anything they want! Really though, they make it super simple to get files back on a whim.
